About
Our goal is always the same: effective, efficient social impact.
Our Story
1P.org brings the power of entrepreneurial thinking, deep consultative research, strategic partnerships, and technological innovation to address some of the most intractable problems facing our one planet. Because we focus on longstanding issues that often seem insurmountable, we extensively research what has, and has not, worked by governments and nonprofits in the past to address the challenges. We then apply a mix of philanthropy, advocacy, impact investing, technology and operational initiatives to enable real social impact.
Founded by Adam and Staci Miller in 2020, 1P.org leverages multiple entities to tackle key issues at the local, national and global level, including the 1P Foundation, 1P Research, 1P Advocacy, and 1P Impact Capital. Additionally, we support and align with organizations, both nonprofit and for-profit, that we believe are effectively addressing existing gaps and championing solutions on the issues we prioritize.
We have initially focused on the most difficult problem in our city of Los Angeles, which is homelessness, and one of the most intractable problems in our country, which is gun violence. Following extensive research, we launched Better Angels to address the homelessness epidemic in LA, and founded 97Percent, a bipartisan group of gun owners and non-gun owners united to reduce gun deaths in America.

Our Team
Adam Miller, Chairman
Adam is a prolific social entrepreneur. He started Cornerstone in 1999 in his one-bedroom apartment to help people realize their potential. Leading for two decades as CEO, Adam grew the company to over 3,000 employees in more than 25 countries delivering over two billion courses as the world’s premier people development company. Under his leadership, Cornerstone went public in 2011 and became one of the largest cloud computing companies in the world.
As Chair of Team Rubicon from 2013-2020, Adam helped the team grow the nonprofit from 500 to over 150,000 volunteers and create America’s leading veterans service organization, which leverages the skills of military veterans to provide humanitarian aid globally. As Chair of the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation, he helped deliver over $125M of social impact and launch DisasterReady, which has trained over 250,000 humanitarian aid workers around the world. He led the merger of FAAN and FAI to create FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education), the world’s largest voluntary health organization serving the food allergic community, and he helped build the UCLA Food Allergy Program.
Today, Adam is the CEO of Instil, a tech company helping nonprofit organizations to maximize their impact, and the Executive Chair of Groundswell, Clovers and Profi. Adam is also an active philanthropist, investor and advisor. He is the Managing Partner of 1P Ventures, 1P Impact Capital, and AllerFund. He was named CEO of the Year in 2009 by the Technology Council and was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in 2011. In 2019, Adam was named as one of the best CEOs for women in technology. Adam has played a leading role in harnessing the power of the tech sector to give back to Los Angeles, including the founding of LA-Tech.org and the launch of the 1,000 Interns Initiative, which is providing internships at LA’s tech companies for a thousand students of color.
Adam is a strong believer in the importance of education. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, a BS from its Wharton School of Business, a JD from the UCLA School of Law, an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Business, and earned both CPA and Series 7 certifications. But it was his two-year solo trip around the world in his twenties that best prepared him to operate globally.
